Masi Came To Visit Us & Taste Wine

MASI Agricola has been a personal favourite of La Vino long before the store opening, in such love we have hosted exclusive MASI wine tasting events and stock a variety of their beautiful wine range at our sister company La Luna. We are now stocking a larger variety of Masi wines here at La Vino instore and online.

MEETING THE 7TH GENERATION OF MASI AGRICOLA: GIACOMO BOSCAINI - BRAND AMBASSADOR

Already head over heels for Masi wines and having been to their exclusive Amarone Classico vineyard - The noble Possessioni Serego Alighieri (which should be on every wine lovers bucket list) Meeting Giacomo Boscaini was an absolute pleasure.

Winemaking has been a continuous tradition in the Boscaini family and wine tasting has defiantly already become a tradition here at La Vino.

MASI WINE TASTING
We were introduced to new wines that we are pretty excited about.

The tasting started with "Casa Canavel" Prosecco DOC Extra dry 2017. This creamy Champagne style prosecco is lively, with floral and apple notes, slightly biscuity with a delicious rounded finish and good length. It is excellent as an aperitif.

We continued with ROSA DEI MASI which is fresh and fruity, having complexity and elegance at the same time. This wine is a "brother" to Compofiorin, the famous red wine. It has intense aromas of ripen wild cherries and raspberries on the nose, soft and well balanced with lively and refreshing acidity.

The third wine on tasting table was Moedella made from 100% Corvina grapes, which is smooth and medium body red wine. It has mild fruity flavor with hints of almonds and finish marked with cherry notes. We recommend trying Corvina for everyone who likes Pinot Noir or Merlot style of wine.

CAMPOFIORIN is the wine to go for! It is well-balanced, full-bodied, smooth and velvety with soft tannin structure, cherry and plum flavours with hints of cinnamon, cacao, tobacco and vanilla on the long lingering finish.

In 1964, MASI launched the now-legendary Campofiorin, which revived the technique of a second fermentation with semi-dried grapes. This is a new category of wines from Veneto inspired by the Amarone production method.

There are much more wines that MASI is proud of. COSTASERA is the benchmark for the high-quality Amarone - proud, majestic, complex and exuberant - MASI gentle giant. Traditional grapes for the Valpolicella Classica area are laid out on bamboo racks to concentrate their aromas during the winter months. This is a secret of high quality, well-balanced wine.

The history of Masi is the history of a family and its vineyards in the Venetian regions. The name itself derives from "Vaio dei Masi", the small valley in Valpolicella acquired by the Boscaini family, who are still its owners today, at the end of the XVIII century.

Today, Sandro Boscaini, company President and Managing Director, runs Masi with the help of his daughter Alessandra, in charge of sales and administration; his son Raffaele, Marketing Manager and Co-ordinator of the Masi Technical Group and his brother Bruno, Production and Plant Manager. His brother Mario has his own business but is still part of Masi - (an adviser to the management). Giacomo Boscaini the newest brand Ambassador.
