Masi

The history of Masi is the history of a family and its vineyards in the Venetian regions. The name itself derives from "Vaio dei Masi", the small valley in Valpolicella acquired by the Boscaini family, who are still its owners now, at the end of the XVIII century.

Today, Sandro Boscaini, company President and Managing Director, runs Masi with the help of his daughter Alessandra, in charge of sales and administration; his son Raffaele, Marketing Manager and Co-ordinator of the Masi Technical Group and his brother Bruno, Production and Plant Manager. His brother Mario has his own business, but is still part of Masi and an adviser to the management.

Le Venezie (the Venetian regions) are the location for an acknowledged and internationally famous thousand-year-old way of life.
The history of Masi is the history of a family and its vineyards in Verona, part of the Veneto. The name itself derives from the Vaio dei Masi, the small valley purchased at the end of the XVIII century by the Boscaini family, still its owners today.
Masi now has lands in the best terroir sites of the Venetian regions withvinryards and historic estates. Since 1973, Masi has collaborated with the ContiSerego Alighieri family, descendants of the poet Dante, on their estates in Valpolicella. More recently, a collaboration has been launched with the Conti BossiFedrigotti family, who have always made wine with passion and skill in Trentino. Both agreements are part of an ambitious project aiming to rediscover the lustre of the farming and winemaking traditions of the nobility from the Venetian are.

Possessioni Serego Alighieri History

The noble Possessioni Serego Alighieri belong to the direct descendants of the poet Dante, and form Valpolicella's oldest and most traditional estates. The property was bought as far back as 1353 by Pietro Alighieri, Dante's son, who had followed his father into exile in Verona and had stayed in the area after the poet's death. Since then, winemaking has been a continuous tradition in the family, and the tradition continues today. After twenty generations, the lands and dwellings on the estates currently belong to Count Pieralvise di Serego Alighieri. The villa is the titular centre of a vast and flourishing agricultural and oenological enterprise, managed in collaboration with Masi Agricola, who have supplied modern technical expertise and an international distribution channel for the unique Serego Alighieri wines and agricultural products that come from these historic lands, now found on sale all over the world.

Bossi Fedrigotti History

The noble Conti Bossi Fedrigotti family has lived in Trentino for almost 600 years, and for more than 300 of them family members have cultivated vines with love and dedication. Their first vintage was in 1697. The biggest innovation came in 1961 with the creation of Fojaneghe, the first Bordeaux blend wine in Italy.
The current proprietors, Isabella, Maria Josè and Gian Paolo Bossi Fedrigotti, continue to produce wine on their ancient estates with the same passion as always.
Since 2007, this historic winemaking enterprise has benefitted from a collaboration with Masi Agricola, whereby the Bossi Fedrigotti wineshave been brought up to date and their links with the great oenological traditions of the Trentino region have been reinforced.

Stra' del Milione Project

As part of its mission to be "an expression of the Venetian territories", Masi went to Friuli, where its technicians have selected foothill vineyard with the right soils and micro-climates to make innovative wines in the unmistakable traditions of the Veneto, using grapes and methods that are native to the Venetian regions.
The large Stra' del Milione estate can be found in the Grave region, in the commune of Castions di Strada at Località Paradiso, to be exact. The vines are trained in the Sylvoz and Guyot fashions and the vineyards have been chosen to be fully mechanisable, so as to make good quality modern wines, both red and white.
The property is named after the road that borders it, the "strada del Milione", which follows one of the principal routes that used to be followed to go from Venice to the Orient. In fact, "Il Milione", also called "Travels of Marco Polo", is the book Marco Polo wrote about his travels eastwards in the XIII century.

Project Masi Tupungato

Masi Tupungato is the name of Masi’s winemaking project in the Mendoza region of Argentina, located in the Tupungato valley at the foot of the eponymous volcano. Here Masi has found the perfect climatic and cultural conditions to host the grapes and oenological techniques of the Venetian regions, particularly Appassimento, in which Masi has a recognised expertise. Masi has also exported its philosophy of care and respect for the environment to Argentina, creating a completely eco-sustainable company.
