Teruzzi & Puthod

Teruzzi&Puthod was established in 1974 on the enchanting hills around San Gimignano with the mission to produce high-quality wines and to promote this unique territory with its rich heritage of history and winemaking culture.
The estate covers a sizeable 180 hectares, 94 of which are vineyarded. 60 hectares are dedicated to Vernaccia, making Teruzzi&Puthod the privately owned estate with the largest cultivation of this renowned native grape variety.
From the start, the company has focused on innovation and respect for the territory and the Tuscan viticultural tradition. Our painstaking work in the vineyards combined with the use of modern wine-making technologies have enabled us to enhance both the native and the international grape varities that we grow.

Today Teruzzi&Puthod stands out for the quality and uniqueness of its wines and for its connection with its birthplace: San Gimignano, a medieval jewel steeped in history and legends. The company is part of the Consorzio della Denominazione San Gimignano (a consortium of 77 producers of Vernaccia di San Gimignano), which is committed to improving the wines and boosting their image, promoting the brand, and to research and development on the quality of the product.

THE WINERY

Teruzzi&Puthod’s winery is located in Tuscany, on the marvellous hills of San Gimignano, in the province of Siena.
To allow each of our wines to express its potential to the full, we take great care in each stage of the winemaking process, from the grape to the finished product, respecting the natural characteristics of the vine and accompanying it along its evolution into wine. In the winery “innovation” and “technology” are our watchwords.

THE HISTORY
A convivial medieval scene, the Teruzzi&Puthod emblem, is the iconic image that characterizes and unifies the whole range of our wines and dominates our labels.
The scene, taken from the Bayeux Tapestry (XI century A.D.), depicts a celebratory banquet: at the centre there is Odo, Bishop of Bayeux, to whom the Latin phrase “et hic episcupus cibu et potu benedicit” (“here the bishop blesses the food and drink”) refers.
The image highlights the connection between wine and food, which has always been an integral part of Teruzzi&Puthod’s cultural heritage, and which celebrates wine as a symbol of conviviality, harmony and coming together.
