PRODUCER
“Cosecheros y Criadores” Growers and Agers” is a historic term that made the difference between the wine growers, wine producers for a quick consumption and commerce of wine in bulk (Cosecheros = wine growers), and the wineries that, with the development of the “Modern Rioja” in the second half of the XIX century adopted the Bordeaux method of ageing and keeping the wines (Criadores = “agers”, “keepers”). Familia Martínez Bujanda established Cosecheros y Criadores in Oyón in 1951, a winery conceived from the beginning to export quality wines and that belongs now to the Vino de la Tierra de Castilla IGP and wine with no IGP with vintage and grape variety.
The winery has state-of-the-art installations to elaborate wines and over 6,000 American and French oak barrels to age innovative and versatile wines, conceived for the more “classic” consumers and for the more modern trends.
VINEYARD
In 1997 they start to build Finca Valpiedra, a winery integrated within an exceptional landscape located along one of the meanders of the Ebro River, on the boundary of the towns of Fuenmayor and Cenicero. Hardly two years later, Carlos and Pilar “fell in love” with these spectacular and unrepeatable vineyard in one of the most extreme areas for growing vines. In 2009 the wine making family decides to bottle all the production from the rest of their Rioja vineyards and open Viña Bujanda.
