TASTING NOTES
The nose is wonderfully complex with notes of toasted almonds, brioche, and honeysuckle while the palate reveals a delicate mousse, refreshing zesty and nutty flavours, and a dry finish thanks to the zero dosage. A marvellous Champagne to serve now for a special occasion or to hold for another decade or so.

PRODUCER
Founded in 1798 and still pushing boundaries today, Jacquesson is one of the oldest and yet most innovative houses in Champagne. It is owned and run by brothers Jean-Herv. and Laurent Chiquet,
who in the early 2000s pioneered the idea of a numbered non-vintage cuv.e, freeing themselves from the constraint of consistency, and permitting instead the pursuit of excellence above all else. With that change came increased transparency: grape sources, disgorgement date, dosage and production volumes were displayed on the back label, affording consumers an insight into the wine that other champagne houses have since adopted.

Around eighty percent of the house’s needs are supplied by its own vineyards, and the whole approach is much closer to that of the conscientious grower than the large négociant. Low yields, careful pressing, stringent selection, fermentation in large oak casks, prolonged lees ageing, minimal dosage, and the absence of fining, filtration and artificial cold stabilisation together account for wines of spectacular vinosity, complexity and finesse.

VINEYARD
This magnificent single vineyard vintage Champagne is crafted from a 1.3 hectare plot which was planted with Chardonnay in the 1960s. Jasquesson’s signature style includes zero dosage and extended lees ageing as well as a laser-like focus on terroir and purity of flavour. This particular cuvee ages for eight years on the lees in the bottle and is very highly sought-after thanks to the tiny production which is only done in the best of vintages.

PRESS
Jacquesson’s Champ Cain has previously enjoyed rave reviews by top wine publications like Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate which gave the 2008 vintage 97 points.

The Champagne Extra Brut Grand Cru Avize from the lieu dit Champ Cain is an elegant synthesis of richness, deepness and freshness. After about 8 years of aging on the lees it expresses an excellent aromatic cleaness, with notes of white flowers, honey and dried fruits. Great freshness, minerality, complexity and persistence on the palate. A great Blanc de Blancs Champagne!
