TASTING NOTES
Classic Shiraz aromas of blueberries, blackberries and cinnamon lead to a luscious yet lively palate that balances typical McLaren Vale fruit density with a floral-spicy lift.

PRODUCER

The first vineyard was established at Chapel Hill in 1973, although it was not until 1979 that the estate was named after the 1865 ironstone chapel that now serves as the winery’s tasting room. The name has long stood for elegant expressions of McLaren Vale fruit, but since the arrival of winemaker Michael Fragos a few years ago, the quality has risen a further notch or two. Fragos has twice been named “Winemaker of the Year”: by Winestate in 2003 and by the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2007.

VINEYARD
McLaren Vale is deservedly recognized as one of the world’s leading Shiraz producing regions. This wine blends fruit from two districts: maritime, limestone-based vineyards on the ocean-facing side of McLaren Vale, and Kangarilla in the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges.

WINERY
The ferments were handled gently, with eight days on skins. Subsequent regular racking encouraged the integration of the youthful tannins. The wine was matured for fourteen months in 100% French oak, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
