Producer
Many Rhône producers have enjoyed a renaissance in the last decade, and none more so than Delas. The company has history (back to 1836) and land (fourteen prime hectares, including La Landonne and Les Bessards). Since 1997, in the form of Jacques Grange, it has also had a winemaker capable of realising all that potential. Under his influence a more modern ‘boutique’ approach has been taken, and the wines now combine clarity of flavour with hedonistic appeal – surely the ultimate goal for a Rhône producer.

Vineyard
Grapes for this wine came from both sub-districts of Côte-Rôtie: 70% from the Côte Brune, and 30% from the Côte Blonde. They were hand- picked parcel by parcel at optimum maturity.

Winery
After three days of pre-fermentation maceration, the fermentation took place at 28-30oC, with daily pigeage and pumping over for twenty days. Malolactic in barrel was followed by 14-16 months of ageing in fifty percent new oak.

Taste
Combining intensity and subtlety, this classic Côte-Rôtie has aromas of cassis, liquorice and smoke, and a graceful palate that masks its underlying concentration.

Awards
Silver Medal, International Wine Challenge 2012

Press
“... exhibits lots of spice, raspberry, cassis, licorice, incense, Christmas fruitcake and fried bacon notes. The smokiness, seductiveness, lusciousness and medium to full-bodied, round, generous texture make for an endearing, sexy Cote Rotie to enjoy over the next 10-15 years.” – 93 points, The Wine Advocate, December 2011

“Very enticing, with roasted herb, olive and spice notes flittering in front of darker pastis, blackberry paste and briar notes. The long, grippy finish is iron-driven, with a tangy mesquite note adding complexity.” – 94 points, Wine Spectator, June 2012
