TASTING NOTES
Deep bigarreau cherry colour with purple hues and abundant legs.
Intense black berry aromas on a background of aromatic herbs and understory well integrated with touches of licorice and soft toasted notes provided by the barrel.
Entry in mouth to black fruits and licorice with good structure, long and tasty.
FOOD PAIRING
Beef · Lamb · Game (deer, venison)
It goes well with roasted red meats and lamb. Delicious with Iberian-pork cold meats and cheeses.
PRODUCER
Fincas Valdemacuco is the first foray outside Rioja for Bodegas Valdemar. This Rioja producer was established in 1889, and have poured over a century of experience into this new venture from Spain’s other great Tempranillo-producing region.
VINEYARD
The grapes come from selected vineyards in the Nava de Roa district near the Duero river itself. The soil is sandy loam with a little gravel.
WINERY
The wine was aged for six months in a mixture of French and American oak barrels, before bottling the May following the harvest.
