PRODUCER
Casa Lapostolle is owned by the Marnier-Lapostolle family (of Grand Marnier fame), and since the winery’s foundation in 1994 has pursued an uncompromising approach to quality. Their objective is simple as it is ambitious: to create world-class wines using French expertise and the superb terroir of Chile.
VINEYARD
Located right next to the Pacific Ocean in central Chile, the Casablanca Valley has a cold Mediterranean climate moderated by the Humboldt current. Soils are of granitic origin from the Chilean Coastal mountains, with some layers of clay and sand. The grapes for this vintage are mainly from Lapostolle’s own Atalayas vineyard, supplemented by long term contract growers in the region. All grapes were hand harvested in the early hours of the morning and transported to Lapostolle’s Colchagua winery in refrigerated containers.
WINERY
Following whole bunch pressing, eighty-four percent of the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of the fruit, while the remainder was fermented and aged for seven months in French oak, with fifty-seven percent new wood.
