TASTE
A brilliant expression of the quixotic Mourvèdre grape, combining sleek blueberry fruit with wilder notes of thyme, juniper and leather. There is a freshness and vitality here which belies the wine’s inherent concentration.

PRODUCER
Lapostolle is owned by the Marnier-Lapostolle family (of Grand Marnier fame), and since the winery’s foundation in 1994 has pursued an uncompromising approach to quality. Their objective is simple as it is ambitious: to create world-class wines using French expertise and the superb terroir of Chile.
VINEYARD
Grapes are from the Apalta vineyard in the Colchagua Valley, certified organic and biodynamic. It is situated on a north-south exposure, has a river on one side, and hills surrounding the rest of the vineyard like a horseshoe. The Mourvèdre vines are ungrafted, and planted on a west- facing slope of rocky, granitic soil. The grapes were hand-picked on the 19th of April.
WINERY
The bunches were destemmed by hand, then given an eight-day cold soak at 12oC. The must fermented with wild yeasts in small vats, with gentle hand plunging. The wine was transferred to three-year-old French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and ten months’ ageing on lees. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered, with just 441 bottles produced in total.
