TASTE
Full and concentrated on the nose with aromas reminiscent of cherries and vanilla. Rich and well rounded on the palate with flavours of plums and a hint of hazelnuts. Fresh and smooth on the long finish.

FOOD PAIRING
Beef · Pasta · Lamb · Game (deer, venison)

PRODUCER
This estate was bought in 1353 by the son of Dante “Divine Comedy” Alighieri, and is still owned by his descendants; Masi lend their winemaking expertise. Cool vineyards near the Lake Garda give wonderful richness and clarity to the flavours.

VINEYARD
Grapes are sourced from Serego Alighieri’s vineyards in Gargagnago di Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella. The soil is compact red sediment, with adequate humus cover over eocenic limestone.

WINERY
The must was fermented at 24-26°C for about fifteen days. The stainless steel tanks were then closed and maceration continued for a further ten days. The wine was matured in barrels where it underwent malolactic fermentation, with batonnage every other day. The total ageing process lasted for eight to nine months in 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels, followed by three months in 600-litre cherry wood casks.
