TASTE
A wonderfully expressive Merlot with a real sense of place, the wine opens with aromas of red berries and cherry jam, which lead to a rich, medium- bodied palate with a lovely balance of fruit and savoury, tobacco notes.

PRODUCER
Italy’s north-eastern corner is home to its greatest concentration of fine white wines. It was in the region of Collio Goriziano that low-temperature winemaking techniques were introduced in the 1960s, and the fresh, delicately aromatic style of these often varietal wines became the new blueprint for the whole area. Marco Felluga is a leading exponent of modern Collio (as it is commonly known), offering unoaked varietal wines of intensity and purity.

VINEYARD
This Merlot comes from two villages: Farra d’Isonzo and San Floriano, which lie at eighty and 250 metres above sea level respectively. The hilly terrain is composed of layers of sandstone and loam rock (limestone and clay) that once formed the ocean floor. Close proximity to both the sea and the Alps results in afternoon breezes across the vineyards, cooling the grapes after the warm, sunny days. All the fruit was hand-picked in the first week of October.

WINERY
The grapes were destemmed and fermented in stainless steel vats. The wine was then aged for twelve months in a mixture of casks and barriques and a further six months in bottle before release.
