TASTING NOTES
Open, perfumed Morey, with notes of orange peel and animal mixed with succulent dark berry fruit. Medium-bodied, plump in the mid-palate, then elegant to finish, this is fine stuff drinking beautifully now.
“A medley of spices, including black pepper, cinnamon and cardamom, signals this supple red, with undertones of woodsy notes.” – 90 points, Wine Spectator, June 2011
PRODUCER
One of the great modern domaines, Perrot-Minot is garnering considerable critical acclaim for its opulent, aromatic wines. The secret is old vines, meticulous viticulture, and minimal intervention. House specialities include Chambolle Combe d’Orveau, a small vineyard adjoining Musigny grand cru, and the rarely seen Mazoyères- Chambertin. Quantities are as small as the scores are high, and most wines sell out rapidly.
VINEYARD
En La Rue de Vergy lies just up-slope from two grands crus: Clos de Tart and Bonnes-Mares. This wine comes from 1.5 hectares of thirty-seven year old vines.
WINERY
The grapes were hand-sorted and destemmed. The must was given about a week’s maceration at 14oC, then fermented at a maximum of 32oC. The wine was left to clarify for forty-eight hours, then racked to barrel, with around 25% new oak, for 12-14 months’ maturation without sulphur, followed by bottling unfined and unfiltered.
