PRODUCER
The owners of stellar burgundy micro-négociant Lucien Le Moine have a side project: they have bought a number of vineyards in the Southern Rhône. The style is fascinating and unique – very much Châteauneuf viewed through the prism of burgundy. The flavours are of course those of Grenache (white or red), but structurally, in their combination of delicacy and power, there is more than a little of the Côte d’Or grand cru about these wines.

VINEYARD
This wine comes from four small plots in the cool northeast of Châteauneuf-du-Pape: Pignan, Pied de Baud, Le Grès and Cabrières.

WINERY
The grapes fermented entirely in whole clusters, and the resulting wine aged for two years on lees in barrel.

TASTE
A powerful wine of jewel-like clarity, this distinctive Châteauneuf manages to present the flavours of the South – dark fruit, spice, herbs and rock – within a frame of freshness and delicacy that is more Burgundian. A wonderful partnership of place and people.

PRESS
“shows the class of the vintage with its purity, richness and length. Showing a clean, focused array of blackberry, currants, pepper, liquid rock and wild herbs on the nose, this full-bodied, structured 2010 is still tight and compact on the palate. Nevertheless, the quality is front and center.” – 96 points, The Wine Advocate, October 2013

“Ripe and lush, with crushed plum, blackberry confiture and pastis- soaked cherry fruit flavors forming the core. Crumpled velvet-textured tannins frame the finish, while charcoal and singed apple wood details hang in the background. Features a solid spine and ample weight and flesh, coming off perfumed and suave overall. Impressive and distinctive.” – 94 points, Wine Spectator, December 2013
